WALLS
EUROPE: AN HISTORY OF COMPARISON AND SHARING
“Vista sull'Europa” is a historical didactic project carried out by some middle school classes in Modena.
The idea of the work stems from the journey made with the students and tries to collect and combine the lesson and the ideas generated together.
The Italian identity is represented by the quotation to Michelangelo's creation, on which some symbolic images tell the other identity to which we belong and which we always carry with us, the European one, represented through some key concepts and moments: values (freedom, peace and justice), moments (the Ventotene manifesto, the Berlin wall, the wars, the resistance), the symbols (Beethoven with the hymn to joy, the woods and other national symbols).
The leaf that the hands exchange represents Europe, and is one of the symbols identified by the students along the way.
All is surrounded by the European flag, which identifies us and unites us.
We wanted not to do a rhetorical piece. It is important to know that Europe was also built in blood and violence, but this has not prevented us from reaching over time a communion of values and intentions, which today, more than ever, defines and binds us.
